Yes, the New Mexico Traffic Safety Bureau allows you to take the final exam online no matter what county issued you a citation.

Do I have to take the New Mexico Driver Safety Course online all in one sitting or can I finish at another time?

Most schools will allow you to log in and out with your username and password as many times as you like. The New Mexico Department of Transportation  mandates that the course is timed and last 4 hours

Can I attend a New Mexico Driver Safety Course online?

The New Mexico Driver Safety Course may be completed online.

You can Not go to Traffic School

For:

  • Equipment offenses
  • Non-moving offenses (like parking offenses)
  • Misdemeanors
  • Offenses with a mandatory court appearance
  • Alcohol- or drug-related offenses
  • Offenses in a commercial vehicle

You are also NOT eligible for traffic school if you have gone to traffic school for another ticket that you got in the last 12 months. There are other reasons you may not be eligible for traffic school. Check with your local court.

Take a Driver Safety Program Course to Lower Your Car Insurance

What you need to do after you attend New Mexico Defensive Driving school?

Once you complete your New Mexico Driver Safety Course,  your Traffic School will automatically notify the New Jersey MVC. Your Course provider will send you an original certificate, you will need to sign it and send it to the court.

 We recommend:

  • Print a copy of your certificate for your records.
  • Check with the BMV within 10 business days after you complete your course to make sure everything has been processed on their end.

If you completed the New Mexico Safety Course to reduce your auto insurance rates, you should print a certificate and deliver to your insurance company.

It can take up to 10 business days for the BMV to process your completion, so please plan accordingly to meet your deadline. Your license may be suspended if you do not complete your course on time.

I Completed to New Mexico Driver Safety Course, but the citation is still on my driving record.  What should I do?

If the traffic citation is the citation for which you attended a defensive driving program, contact the New Mexico Department of Transportation and ask them to correct your driver record.
